No one loves John Mayer like John Mayer does. To quote a sage for the ages, he loves him some him. What's uniquely fascinating about Mayer is how this profound narcissism flows not from his musical talents - which I'm told are actually quite prodigious, guitar-wise - but from his clear belief that he is the most clever kid in the room. Now that isn't always a high bar in the music industry, but Mayer's belief in his own brilliance is what gets him in trouble again and again.

Again and again, he is too clever for his own good, desperate for the media types to recognize it, to like him, to tell people how smart he is.
